Get a Tipsy Tow On St. Patrick's Day

Make this St. Patrick’s Day more about St. Paddy and less about the paddy wagon. If you’ve been drinking on St. Patrick’s Day, AAA Northern California will take you and your car home for free.

AAA’s Tipsy Tow program is open to everyone. You do not need to be a AAA member to take advantage of this service to the community.

AAA will offer the service to drinking drivers from 6 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th to 6 a.m. March 18th, potential passengers, party hosts, bartenders, and restaurant managers can call 800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP) for a free tow home of up to ten miles. Just tell the AAA operator, “I need a Tipsy Tow,” and a truck will be on its way.

Merced Restaurant Lobbies for Reality TV Show

By Winston Whitehurst

Big Bubba's Bad Barbecue is a family restaurant in Merced, and the people who manage it want it to be known for more than just its ribs.

The idea came from the mind of the restaurant's owner. He used to own Big Bubba's five years ago. Now he's back, and this time, he wants to turn his staff into household names.

"Yes! Yes! It's crazy. I'm absolutely 'stoked'? Is that the word? Yes! It's absolutely amazing!" said Tina Imani, a server at the restaurant.

'Stoked' is how the 25 workers at Big Bubba's Bad Barbeque feel.  Their owner is trying to turn their work environment into a reality TV show.

"I said, 'Who has ever dreamed of owning a restaurant? Who here has ever dreamed of owning a bar or nightclub?' And almost all of them said, 'We have! We have! That's a dream of mine!'" said Jason Vogel, owner of the restaurant.
